Steps for task redesign:

1. What is our learning objective? (is it the same for every student? is it tiered? is there a problem the students are trying to solve?)
2. How can we minimise teacher talk? (gather resources, make available to students, prepare video/audio/instructions, scaffold)
3. How should/can students achieve the learning outcome? (closed/narrow path or open/wide approaches? what patterns, habits do you want the students to practise?)
4. How can students demonstrate their learning? (type of tasks, depth of tasks, feedback)
